Scintilla GT3 Nurburgring Nordschleife Race Take the Scintilla GT3 to the Nordschleife and see how BeamNG's AI holds up in a full GT3-style race against the player. This scenario focuses on AI race pace, traffic behavior, and close racing over one of the most demanding circuits in the game.
Important: this is still a work-in-progress mod, so expect some rough edges. Please try it out, give feedback, and let me know how the AI performs for you.
Required map: make sure you have the attached ks_nord / Nurburgring Nordschleife map installed. This specific version has been edited to support the scenario and is necessary for the race to work correctly.
How the AI Works The AI is not just running a basic default line. The scenario uses a custom GT3 AI tuning node that adjusts BeamNG's AI behavior while the race is running.
- The track is sampled from an optimized Nordschleife race path, then split into corners, sweepers, braking zones, and release zones.
- The AI uses a generated GT3 model to understand corner type, radius, braking demand, preferred corridor, and exit behavior.
- During the race, the custom node updates braking, turn force, awareness distance, and awareness force so the AI can react to the track and nearby cars.
- Traffic and racecraft logic helps the AI handle close following, side-by-side moments, blocked lanes, switchbacks, and defensive or attacking situations.
- Trail-braking and lift behavior are tuned by zone, so the cars should be more stable through difficult sections instead of just charging into every corner at full aggression.
Visualizing the AI's "Brain Map"
To help you visualize how the custom tuning node operates, we have included a generated track layout diagram ([ICODE]gt3_track_layout_all_turns.svg[/ICODE] inside the mod files).
This diagram showcases the exact optimized racing line used by the AI, color-coded by how the hybrid model classifies each of the 88 turns (from low-speed bends to flat-out, high-speed sweepers). It offers a detailed look at how the AI's decision-making engine segment-by-segment maps out braking entry points, curvature limits, and corner release zones to negotiate the "Green Hell" stably and competitively.
