Enhanced Interior Camera

The original enhanced interior camera mod. Back when I made this mod in 2023 it was one of the first camera script mods available. Since then this mod has become incredibly popular with over 1 million downloads! It has grown significantly with new features over the years. This is also the first BeamNG mod I've ever created!

I've designed this interior camera to offer a more immersive, high quality driving experience inspired by racing games such as DriveClub and Forza (especially DriveClub). This camera most prominently features g-forced based camera effects, high quality perlin noise-based shaking effects, and head rotation effects to improve the stability of the view outside of the car while also improving the fun factor of driving. I have also put a significant amount of effort into making sure that this camera doesn't suffer from jank by implementing safeguards for when the vehicle experiences extreme forces such as wrecks or tumbles.

BeamNG 0.40 compatible with these NEW features!

Camera now applies to all seats in vehicles via BeamNG 0.40's new occupant camera.
Added yaw smoothing to camera movement.
Lookahead feature now can be enabled/disabled for passenger seats.
Optimized UI for use with game controllers.
Added experimental arcade chase camera. (Give it a try! It's awesome.)

NOTE: Version 2.9.0 of this mod is NOT COMPATIBLE with BeamNG version 0.39 and below. If you are still on BeamNG 0.39, please download an older version in the Compatibility section of this post.

IMPORTANT Change: As of version 2.9.0, the Enhanced Interior Camera now REPLACES the stock interior camera. Because of this, I have added an option to the settings UI to allow you to toggle on/off all camera effects.

Planned new features Here is my current roadmap for new features that I'm planning on cooking up. I don't have a timeline on when they will be finished.

Add camera effects to hood camera as well.
Finish the Arcade Chase Camera. This chase camera will be inspired by DriveClub and NFS ProStreet. Version 2.9.0 includes an experimental version of it that is in no way finished!
Rename Enhanced Interior Camera to Enhanced Camera Suite.

Features:

Subtle screen shake that increases intensity with speed.
Screen shake while drifting.
Camera tilts back slightly when accelerating.
Camera tilts forward slightly while braking.
Camera jerks forward on heavy head-on collisions.
Camera jerks forward with heavy upward g-forces. (i.e. driving on loops, hitting ramps or large bumps, hard landings)
Dynamic FOV that increases with speed.

How to Customize: Go to the pause menu > Mods > EIC Settings This menu allows you to customize camera effects in great detail. It also provides multiple presets such as: Lookahead, Intense, Smooth, VR (Comfort), and VR (Thrill). You can also create your own presets.

Preset Descriptions:

Default - A great middle ground for all of the effects. Great to use as a base.
Lookahead - Same as default, but enabled a steering-driven lookahead feature
Intense - Shake and head motion effects are dialed in a little bit.
Smooth - Like default, but with no shake effects.
VR (Comfort) - Locks to horizon on both pitch and roll axises.
VR (Thrill) - A more fun, but probably more nauseating experience. (My favorite!)

How to use in BeamMP BeamMP will disable this mod when used in a server that does not include it. In order to use it, you need to extract the lua, settings, and ui folders of enhanceddriver.zip into your BeamNG userfolder. Your user folder can be found by navigating to C:/Users/<your name>/AppData/Local/BeamNG/BeamNG.drive/current. This will instruct BeamNG to load these files without treating it as a "mod." Compatibility Requires at least BeamNG version 0.40. Trying to run this mod on a previous version may cause unexpected bugs or errors. If you are on an older version of BeamNG, please try downloading previous versions of the mod from the table below.
