Welcome to Desert Highway! This is a project inspired by my desire to drive for many miles on a quick, and long map.

Originally started by the user @Miura and it was a depiction of a totally barren salt flat. This map is a rolling work in progress.

VERSION 2021.12.26 UPDATE: This long overdue update includes several fixes to keep the map capable with the latest versions of the game.

The following issues have been addressed:

Bush texture issue fixed, but in the process, ran into issues with the forest. The map currently has no vegetation.
AI improvements over bridges. AI works generally well on the map.
Multiple spawn points have been defined.
Had to re-do most of the textures. Base texture is different, several different textures have had parameter adjustments.
Brought any objects caught floating back to Earth.
Decal Road cleanup, including fixing broken textures, also fixing overlapping issues (render priority). Fixed up some road curves being horrible unnatural.
Attempting to fix up terrible camber on some roads. More work to be done.
General smoothing especially at edges of cliffs.
Turned down most sound emitters, they were far too loud.

Features added:

Known issues:

Some holes in the Earth where I had to cut it out for the tunnel.
Vegetation is completely absent, however as a result, overall performance is improved.
Some models have texture issues.
Despite AI cars working, map/GPS doesn't seem to work.

To-Do:

Convert map textures to PBR
Add vegetation back? Feedback on this is welcome, I personally like the map being cleaner.

At least some vegetation and PBR would be nice as well as the new Sunsky lighting system instead of the ScatterSky :wink: Overall, I love the map

The update broke the plant textures and you just removed the plants. Also, why did you update the road textures? they looked better and were fine. Please return the plants and the black asphalt.

please i need help the dirt textures around the roads are black. the map is pretty good mat its just the black textures are extremely annoying

This was one of the first map I played when I started playing this game, its nostalgic. Good to see that this map has been updated. Looks empty without the bushes, some buildings are not solid and some roads have no textures but other than that, its a certified hood classic.
